Health-care workers watch from a window at Toronto General Hospital as Toronto first responders parade down hospital row in Toronto in a salute to healthcare workers on April 19, 2020, amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Toronto General Hospital has a reason to celebrate: Its intensive care unit has no COVID-19 patients for the first time in more than 14 months.

The University Health Network (UHN) posted the milestone on social media Wednesday night.

“COVID-free for the first time since March 26, 2020!,” read the caption, alongside a celebratory emoji. “This is the first time the MSICU (Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit) at Toronto General does not have any COVID patients. We are very grateful for the extraordinary MSICU team! #ThankYou.”

The note was accompanied by a video of staff cheering after announcement, which began with a staff member saying, “Thank you for your hard work. I feel like I’m going to cry now.”
